The universe has a wicked sense of timing. On the eve of the most outlandish supermoon of the year, The Dark Beyond drops—a single designed to send chills down your spine as we teeter on the edge of cosmic horror. It’s here: Jorah Kai and The Dark Beyond’s debut track, a haunting melody destined to echo in the empty spaces of your mind. (And yes, “debut” hints that more might follow—mu ha ha!)
Here’s the poem I penned for the book—my ode to the void:
The Dark Beyond
By Jorah Kai
There’s a species of silence that clings to the edge of things,
Thicker than ink, darker than death—a silence beyond sound,
As if the cosmos itself has turned away,
Leaving us to tremble before the dark beyond.
They promised stars, a silver sea, galaxies spinning in endless dance,
But out there, there’s no warmth, no gleam—just the void,
Cold as a widow’s hands, black as a godless night.
A darkness that feeds on light, devours stars whole,
Leaving only echoes of screams that never reach our ears.
I looked back once—just once—toward Earth,
That fragile, blue breath afloat in the cradle of light.
Gaia, with her clouds and seas,
The last gasp of life in an endless night.
But out here, she’s nothing—
A speck in the maw of eternity,
A candle flickering against the winds of the void.
It was supposed to be glory, this flight,
A soaring communion with the stars,
A plunge into the mysteries where gods keep their secrets.
But the secrets are hollow; the gods are dead—or never were.
And now I spin, caught in the jaws of the dark beyond,
Swallowed by an ancient silence that knows only hunger.
So here I am, an orphan of stardust,
Adrift in the cold veins of the universe,
Where light is devoured, and stars become bones.
There’s no song, no solace, only the yawning maw,
The dark beyond, waiting, watching,
A promise that all we know, all we are,
Will vanish into its endless, pitiless mouth.
The Dark Beyond is more than just a song—it’s an invitation to cross the threshold where reality and horror intertwine. Every beat, every note, pulls you deeper into a space where existential dread takes hold, inspired by Lovecraft’s chilling mythos and infused with the darkwave, horrorsynth, and cyberpunk energy of a haunted future. This track doesn’t just unsettle—it lingers, daring you to reflect on its cosmic terror long after the final chord fades.
This is the beginning of something much larger. With The Sun Also Rises on Cthulhu looming just beyond the horizon, The Dark Beyond serves as both a prologue and a forewarning.
Set to release on April 1, 2025, The Sun Also Rises on Cthulhu is a collaboration between myself and the immortal Ernest Hemingway—a reimagining of his classic tale, now drenched in the harrowing embrace of cosmic horror. This novel explores the insignificance of humanity against an uncaring, infinite universe, blending Hemingway’s minimalist brilliance with the foreboding unease of the unknown.
And now, with the first single out, the journey has begun. Whether you’re gearing up for the wild ride of The Sun Also Rises on Cthulhu or immersing yourself in the raw atmosphere of The Dark Beyond, this is your invitation to step into the abyss.
Listen now—and prepare yourself. The void is watching.
